Pizza Pizza

So one morning about 3 weeks ago after I got home from taking the kids to school, I get call from a guy who identifies himself as Jim Dees from PMQ magazine. Now I had barely had my coffee and did not really have my wits about me nor was I expecting this. So after he explains that he is calling from one of the pizza industries largest magazines I remember seeing it around Palermo or Segesta at one point.

He explains to me that he has been assigned to do an article on Gluten Free pizza and he found us on a google search and he'd like to ask me a few questions. So I'm answering his questions and I tell him I can send him a sample. He asks for pictures and can you believe this: We did not get a decent picture of our booth at the DAN conference. So I have Tara take a dorky picture of me holding a crust and a close up of the crust in the package. I also sent him a file with the logo to use if he liked. So I did not hear from him for a week and thought that it would just be a little blurb about us in this article.

Then the editor calls me and says that this issue is going to be passed out at this big pizza expo in New York in March and I should buy an ad. So she helps me put an ad together and give me a 1/2 page ad for 1/2 price. She was very nice and we spoke several times over a few days while her designer put the ad together for me. She said that she would send me some copies of the issue when it comes out.

Tuesday of this week (2-20-07) I get a call from someone who says they saw the ad and can they get a sample. This magazine is distributed to a lot of pizza joints and they were getting customers asking about GF pizza crust. I did not even know the issue was released! So I sent her a sample and we got our copies in the mail later that afternoon.

I saw the ad on like page 32 or something and we were like "oh cool!". So I keep flipping and I come to the article and there I am! A big 1/2 page picture of me holding my crust! HAHA I almost fell off my chair. I did not think that they would put that up. Then we read the article and it talks about us. It was more than I expected. Even Russell was impressed!

Well that gave us some confidence. The next day another guy calls to order a case for his place. I got 4 more calls and sold 3 more cases the next two days! Well hopefully this will help kick start some things. Now I just need to make sure we stay in good with this kitchen so we can keep cooking over there. They are saying they are gonna do some remodeling and that while we can still use it to cook, we cant store the oven there! but nothing is happening yet so we will see. Emma

I was going through Christmas pictures and just love this one. On my side of the family there are six grandkids. These are the only two girls. Emma Rose and Autumn Rose. Emma is such a doll ! Course, she did cry every time I held her for the first few days of our visit. But I didn't take it personal since she cried with everyone else too! Can't wait to see her again!

finally

I want, I want, I want.

So what's new, huh? I don't know if there's ever been a time in my life where I've wanted to learn and accomplish so many different things. When asked, 'what are your hobbies and interests' I always wanted to answer with the usual - reading, cooking, spending time with my family, blah blah blah. Not that those things are BLAH, but they are just so generic and plain. So anyhow, lately I have just had so much on my mind - so many new things I want to explore, so many interests that I want to delve further into. I wish I could say that they included cleaning my house, laundry, and reorganizing my kitchen cupboards, but sadly they do not. So, my goal for 2007 is to do as many as these things as possible. We'll see how far I get.

1) learn to use my camera to it's full potential and develop my photography skills
2) become extremely comfortable and knowledgeable with photoshop
3) knit
4) learn to use my sewing machine
5) quilt (using my newfound sewing skills)
6) read through the entire bible
7) finish up my scrapbooks from the past 13 years
8) read a novel

I know there are few more, but it's late and I can't remember all. If you'll notice, many of the things that are already a part of my life and responsiblities are not on the list. That's a different list. This one is about personal interests and growth. So, along with my other 'lists' , I'll have to manage my time better to fit it all in. Looking through my wants I see a theme - I love simple, old, traditional, artsy, homey things. I like that.

January wrap up

Sunday was a really nice day. Tim and the kids made breakfast and gave me gifts and cards in the morning. Then we went to church and afterwards had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. Thank you to Grandma and Grandpa, Mike and Jayne, Mom and Dad, Marshall and Catalina, the Jarvis family, and my friend Heather for the gifts and cards! This girl feels special!
